Each year gardens representing the best of spring, summer, fall and winter gardens will be displayed on this page.
GARDEN OF MERIT FALL 2025
“Recently, while driving around through our beautiful town of Prescott, my friends and I came across a colorful, creative and gorgeous garden located at 3398 Bar Circle A Road. The owners, Ann Friday and Larry Springer, have incorporated evergreen shrubs with native plants and colorful grasses. Their mature garden is the result of multiple plantings to create a wildlife-resistant landscape (SHHH…Don’t tell the javelina or deer!) Pruning the Deodar Cedar keeps it contained and healthy for the garden size, while small ground covers and Gopher plants are tucked away between rocks and boulders, softening the landscape. The huge ‘Dinner Plate Cactus’ really shouldn’t be thriving in our Prescott environment, but Ann and Larry coddled it until it grew into the beautiful plant it is now. Look for the colorful metal garden art that brightens up the front of the home. The garden owners and the Alta Vista Garden Club invite you to drive or wander past to see and enjoy this season’s featured garden during the month of October. You really won’t want to miss this garden!”
